Oil Painting

Jocelyn Olivera

My name is Jocelyn Olivera. I'm a senior from Beloit Memorial high school and an incoming freshmen at Aurora University. During my high school career I kept busy with hobbies such as Ballet folklorico, jazz band, wind ensemble and girls swimming. My interest in art started from a young age however I've become very inconsistent with it for most of high school. During my senior year I luckily had a very encouraging and supportive art teacher (Elizabeth Carpenter) who helped me rediscover my love and passion for art.

In my art I refer to my personal experiences as a young Lantia and aim to create vibrant pieces that show the highs and lows of Mexican culture. My hope is that when young women look at my art they find comfort, representations, and a part of themselves in it which is why I'm very excited to have it displayed in the Her Art Exhibit!
